Aug. 1 (Bloomberg) — U.S. Senator Christopher Dodd will have surgery next month to remove prostate cancer, a disease that afflicts one in six American men that doctors say also can be treated with radiation, monitoring or hormone therapy.

The senator, who has been working on a healthcare overhaul bill, says the disease was caught at an early stage, and he will have surgery in August. When Sen. Christopher J.
